Also, please write one authentic textually-based discussion question on a sheet of paper that you can hand in at the beginning of class tomorrow.  The question may be interpretive in nature, asking a question about the text, a character, a line by Carraway, etc., or evaluative, asking a question prompted by the text but related to the "real world".

Also, on the same paper, please identify a song that you connect to chapter 1 or two. In a paragraph in your notebook, introduce the song (the name of the song and artist), briefly explain why you connected the song with the novel and share a particularly meaningful stanza from the song. Explain how you see the the song and the specific lyrics relating to chapter 1 or 2 of Gatsby; include at least one quote from The Great Gatsby.

3) Hand in questions and song connections

4) Discuss (from memory) your question with another student. 

a) Share your quote and question with them, 
b) wait patiently, hold your tongue and let them provide a thoughtful response...
c) then, and only then, respond to their thoughts and share your own thoughts on your question...
d) Then, switch roles...rinse and repeat.
